Learning Strategies
Tick, tock, tick, tock... It's time to talk about time!

Quelle [1]
It’s happened to everyone: You promise yourself this time you will start earlier, perhaps even in good time. But the days fly by and there always seems to be something far better to do than sit down at your desk and start writing or revising. It is only when your deadline or exam is just a few days or weeks away that you begin to feel anxious and your guilty conscious finally forces you to throw yourself into your books. A few hours a day would have been more than enough if you’d started in good time, but now you feel you have no option but to work through the night in a desperate attempt to drag your grade up as high as possible. Why on earth do we make life so hard for ourselves?
Time management in a learning context can focus on one or more of a variety of aspects, for example: When is the best time for me to learn? How long should my sessions be? When should I start writing or revising?
This section takes us on a slight detour away from our main area of focus. Links to dedicated modules on the topic of time management are available in Section 6 alongside a number of helpful videos.
Tip
It should come as no surprise that there are now a huge range of time management apps available. They are designed to help you not only structure your schedule and learning materials, but also avoid looking at your mobile phone every two minutes.
A number of websites offer an overview of the functionality, benefits and disadvantages of selected apps. Examples can be found hereand here.
