Criteria for analysing a weekly schedule

What can I learn from the documentation of my week?

You can now analyse your weekly schedule according to certain criteria.
It is best to colour-code the categories in your weekly schedule. Alternatively, you can also enter letters for the individual categories in your schedule.

Possible categories for analysing a weekly schedule:

  • fixed university times (lecture, seminar, internship....)

  • preparation and revision time for the university

  • part-time job

  • leisure

  • organisational matters (shopping, household duties...)

  • break

  • fixed appointment once a week (a doctor's appointment, for example)

You can, of course, add as many more categories as you need to categorise your everyday life.

On the right, you can see Conny's analysed weekly schedule.

Conny Confused was able to identify some time-wasters in her weekly routine by analysing her CURRENT WEEKLY SCHEDULE:

“I documented my weekly routine for a week and then analysed it in detail.
I was totally surprised at how chaotic and disorganised my week is. The plan was totally colourful and fragmented.
For example, I have seen that going to a hotel for just one hour's work is a total time-waster for me.
I also spend far too much time moving things around at home and especially with TV and the internet. And I'm on the road quite a lot overall.
In the week I documented, I actually wanted to prepare a presentation. After I have invested an hour twice, the preparation is of course far from complete. Somehow I never had enough peace and free time for it.”
