Theoretical background to setting goals

Setting goals

We set ourselves goals every day and work towards them. This often seems to happen automatically without us consciously thinking about it.
If problems arise at any point, for example, if you feel very stressed before exams, are under time pressure or simply do not manage to meet deadlines, then it is advisable that you consciously and explicitly reflect on your own goals.
People often tend to set themselves unrealistic goals. These goals are then either too ambitious or not achievable in the time available.
Or a goal is formulated very vaguely, so that sometimes it is not at all clear what needs to be done to achieve this goal.
Such unrealistic goals then lead to repeated failures, which of course frustrates you.

In this chapter, we will show you how to formulate your goals SMARTly.

GerryGelassen has already had positive experiences with this technique of setting goals.
