Information on breathing exercises

Breathing is a relevant factor in almost all relaxation techniques, but there are also some techniques in which breathing is the central factor.
Here the focus is on breathing, which usually tends to work automatically alongside the tasks you concentrate on throughout the day.
Our everyday breathing is usually very shallow, which means that we usually only breathe into the chest. In stressful situations, breathing is often also very fast. Specific techniques are used to deepen or sometimes modulate breathing in a particular way.
The physiological starting point of these techniques is the recognition that fast “stress breathing” tends to intensify the physical stress response. By contrast, slow breathing focused on exhalation makes the body feel at rest.
Breathing exercises can vary in complexity. There are some rather simple exercises that are good to start with. Other exercises are more complex and require some experience.
In general, breathing exercises have the advantage that they can be used anywhere, anytime and, above all, quite unobtrusively. Moreover, the first successes are noticeable in the very short term.
In this training module, we would like to introduce you to different breathing exercises in more detail on the next page.
