Instructions for breathing exercises
We would like to introduce you to two different breathing exercises.
First of all, we would like to give you some general information on how to perform breathing exercises:
- Before you do a breathing exercise, air the room well.
- You should do the breathing exercise while sitting with your back straight. This gives you maximum “space” in your chest to breathe.
- If you like, you can relax your muscles a little before the breathing exercise, for example by briefly “shaking” your arms and legs.
Extended period of exhalation:
In this exercise, you breathe in and out while counting.
When you breathe in, count one-two; when you breathe out, count one-two-three.
In this way, you extend the period of your exhalation, which has a calming effect on your body.

Breathing loop
In this exercise, the process of breathing is to be visualised, that is, imagined pictorially. It is very effective to link a breathing exercise with a word or a picture. This helps to better internalise the procedures and recall them when needed, for example, just by imagining the word or picture.
