Entering a meeting: the audio test
Before entering each meeting (including Breakout rooms), you will be asked if you want to join the audio conference with or without a microphone. This is where the audio test takes place. Joining with a microphone is always recommended because you can mute your microphone at any time.
When you chose “Listen only”, you can activate the microphone later. This can be done by clicking “Leave audio” first. Afterwards, click “Join audio”, and choose the “Microphone” option to enter the conference again.
Muting and Unmuting the microphone
Click the microphone symbol to mute or unmute yourself during a conference call. It is advisable to mute the microphones of all participants by default in your room settings to avoid background noises. As a moderator, you can mute other participants by clicking on their names and by choosing the “Mute user” option. If not specified otherwise, users can unmute themselves at any time.
Switching webcams on and off
Choose the camera symbol to switch your webcam on and off.
As a moderator, you can manage the permissions to share cameras for all participants individually.
Focus
If you wish to focus on a participant’s video, use the focus option during a session. To use this option, click on the participant’s name on their video stream and select “Focus”. The selected participant’s video will be shown larger and the video stream of other participants will be shown smaller.

Mirror
Due to the nature of a camera, participants’ video may appear mirrored. To reverse this effect, click on a specific participant’s name on their video stream and select “Mirror”.

Telephone dial-in option to join a conference
It is possible to join a BBB conference using the dial-in function on your phone. To join a conference, call the designated number. The dial-in number will be shown on the left side of a conference room that has been started. After calling the dial-in number you will hear the request to enter the room pin for the specific web conference. Enter the room pin followed with a hashtag (hash-key) and you will be connected to the web conference.
If the conference initiator only sent the link to the conference, please contact them if you wish to join via telephone dial-in. The pin number can be found in the information box in the public chat section.
To avoid audio disturbances, please mute your call when you are not speaking. You can mute and unmute yourself with the 0 key.
If you have an option other than your phone to join a BBB conference, you should use it.
