3. Rule of five and its variations
The rule of five plays a significant role in verbal communications such as negotiations, everyday conversations and advertising. It consists of five formulated steps leading a thought process argumentatively to an intended goal (point). The rule of five structure facilitates listeners’ understanding.
Rule of five construction:
Step 1 - Introduction
Short outline of the topic or issue
Step 2 to 4 - body
Short, densely informative argumentation in three steps
Step 5 - point
Precisely formulated proposal, thought process or conclusion
