Lehre 4.0 | Legal Aspects of E-Learning
Why do I have to deal with legal issues when using e-learning?

Particularly important for the production of digital teaching and learning material and references to other content on the internet, as well as for educational matters and results of students, is the compliance of copyright and usage right in accordance with the Copyright Law (UrhG) (cf. Arnold et al. 2011: 353).
Since the internet is no longer an area of unlimited freedom and possibilities and the first lawsuits for copyright infringements have been filed, it is clear that there are limits on the internet which must be respected. Apart from possible financial consequences, data protection also plays an increasingly important role in the production, use and distribution of online content.
Students often have questions regarding the use and processing of personal data, as private data is (must be) processed and stored at the university. Teachers are faced with questions about the storage of examination results on the Internet, as well as data protection in various learning management systems (LMS) such as Ilias, Stud.IP and others.
