Target group: | Students who wish to make their learning processes more effective and efficient. |
Learning objectives: | After completing this module you will be able to: - Explain the central processes upon which learning is founded, i.e. the gathering, processing and long-term storage of information.
- Explain the importance of pre-existing knowledge and how to activate, structure and apply it.
- Structure and visualise learning content.
- Expand and revise your knowledge in an effective, time-saving way.
- Use breaks to enhance your learning processes.
The module consists of five main sections: - The introduction begins by explaining the basic structure and approach adopted by the module. It then invites you to reflect on previous learning processes. The knowledge gathered provides the basis for the following sections.
- The second section focuses on the topic of memory, and in particular the three key elements of the learning process: The gathering, processing and long-term storage of information. The insights you gain will enable you to fully understand and exploit the revision strategies dealt with in the following section.
- In this section we look at not only the variety of different learning strategies available, but also how to create a suitable learning atmosphere.
- Time management and the importance of breaks as part of optimised learning processes are the main areas of focus in this section.
- In addition to an overview of each of the previous sections, the summary also provides you with an opportunity to review your learning outcomes.
- The links and downloads in the final section can be used to gain further insights into each of the topics dealt with in this module.
