Roles and rights

Participants (have a round icon in the left list of participants): The Participant role can be used to join a voice conference, share the webcam if required, download documents and chat with others. They can also raise their hand virtually to indicate that they would like to contribute to the word (e.g. via the round 'raise hand' icon in the bottom right-hand corner). Presenters can adjust participants' permissions using the gear icon in the participants list (see illustration).

If you are registered as a "student" in the Stud.IP event in which the meeting room is located, your rights in the meeting are automatically transferred to you as a "participant". The same applies to ILIAS or k-med courses: ILIAS "course members" are transferred to the BBB role "participant".

Moderator (has a square icon in the left list of participants): As the moderator of a meeting, you can define basic settings for the meeting room, such as disallowing webcams for listeners. You can grant or revoke rights to individual participants. Moderators can also end meetings. This status should only be given to students after careful consideration.

If you are registered as a "lecturer" or "tutor" in the Stud.IP event in which the meeting room is located, your rights in the meeting are automatically transferred to you as a "moderator". The same applies to ILIAS or k-med courses: ILIAS "course administrator" and ILIAS "course tutor" will be transferred to the BBB role "moderator".

Presenter (have a small blue canvas icon in the top left corner next to their own icon in the left participants list): This role exists only once in a meeting room. It can be assigned to both presenters and participants by people in the presenter role, for example if they are presenting slides. The presenter can upload and annotate documents, upload and click on presentations, share the screen and use the whiteboard feature. Presenters can do this themselves (via the round plus icon) or assign it to participants by clicking on their name (see illustration).
