Target Group:
All students who want to make their self-organised work at home more effective and prevent an increase in stress levels in the process.
Learning Objectives:
After completing this self-study module you will be able to:
  • tackle your self-directed learning at home systematically
  • and to find a balance between work and recreational phases.
  • you acquire helpful strategies for sensible time management
  • and learn relaxation techniques to organise breaks and recreation phases.
This self-study module consists of six central chapters:
To begin with, the introduction will explain the basic structure of the module and the way it works.
In the chapter on the place of learning, we first describe what an optimal place of learning should look like.
Central aspects of good time management are taught in the chapters on breaks and weekly schedules.
In the following chapter, you will learn what to consider when setting priorities. This topic is followed by the chapter on setting goals.
Finally, the module ends with the topic of relaxation techniques. In this chapter, we describe different relaxation techniques and provide audio instructions for you to practise on your own.
Total module duration:
approx. 3-4 hours spread over 3 weeks.  
The time you will need to work through this module is distributed as follows:

1st Chapter: “Place of learning”: approx. 15 min.
2nd Chapter: “Breaks”: approx. 20 min.
3rd Chapter: “Weekly schedules”: approx. 2 hours. (In this chapter, you are initially recommended to document your
current weekly schedule for two weeks and then analyse it.)
4th Chapter: “Setting priorities”: approx. 25 min.
5th Chapter: “Summary”: approx. 15 min.
